A quick trip to North Carolina afforded a few stops along the old Southern (NS Piedmont Division) along the way.  This is #751, an empty hopper train coming North onto the Connection at Hurt.  The Connection will take him Westward to Roanoke on the Altavista District.

A bit later and farther South we stopped to catch a couple of trains meet.  This is 194 Southbound with RPU #886.  Sorry, I wasn't able to get a good shot of it's mate, SD40-2 #6196.

The train he met, Northbound 214 is Backlit, but I still liked the way the signals framed it.

The next day found us just North of the station in Salisbury when this UP-lead train came toward us headed for the Asheville district.  Had we been just a couple blocks farther South the shot would've been perfectly lit as he went around the wye.  I'll know better next time!

OK, this time we have the light just where I want it!  This Southbound is coming past the new signals at Hoskins on the new track one.  This had been a single track North to Greensboro just a few months ago.  It's still being operated as single-track as they take the opportunity to re-habilitate the old track.
