GP7 #120

This scene from December, 1978 is typical of so many days I spent with my brother Robert -- that's him in the foreground. Observing operations on the Katy branch in Wichita Falls, Texas was our favorite pastime. About three times a week train #163 would come up from Ft. Worth via trackage rights over the FW&D main. They would layover there while a local crew took care of switching and return as train #164 later that same day.

GP7 #120 was one of 4 Katy geeps delivered with steam boilers, generators, and larger fuel tanks for passenger service, hence the air reservoir on the roof.
