Harper's Ferry, WV, Sept. 30, 2000

confluence of Potomac & Shenandoah
Joe Hage Over the years I've visited Harper's Ferry many times to watch trains, hike the trails, or just play tourist in the historic town.
The cliffs above the railroad, known as Maryland Heights, have a reputation for poor, loose rock, while the bottom seems overgrown with vegetation. This and the lack of any real beta had kept me away until early this fall.
The rock did occasionally break free and the sound of trains sometimes made communication difficult but nevertheless it was fun climbing.
